Talofa lava, Kia Orana, Taloha Ni, Malo e lelei, Ni sa bula vinaka, Talofa, Fakaalofa lahi atu and Warm Pacific greetings to you all!
The Polynesian Cultural group encourages our Pasifika girls to take pride in their culture and is open to all students at Sacred Heart College. The group is led by the talented Year 13 students who lead by example and aim to build understanding of Pasifika identity, culture and customs through song and dance. Rehearsals take place during lunchtimes and afterschool, as well as the school holidays.
The core values of the Polynesian Cultural group include:
• Importance of Identity (language and culture)
• Importance of Family, community and group
• Respect for our elders and leaders
• Relationships based on Trust
The group plays an important role in college life, sharing the Pasifika culture and performing for special occasions including the Big Bang concert, Feast Day, Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, the opening of the new Performing Arts Centre and our very own spectacular Sacred Heart College Pasifika Fiafia Night event showcasing Pasifika talent from schools around the Hutt Valley and Wellington region.
Upcoming events for 2014:
Pasifika Fiafia Nights – Wednesday 27th August and Thursday 28th August 2014 at the Sacred Heart College Performing Arts.
