The health and wellbeing of our students, staff and community is a top priority.  Today we have been notified of our first confirmed case of COVID-19 at Sacred Heart College.

Processes were followed and all close contacts were identified and sent home to isolate. Relevant information was sent to caregivers about the requirements of isolation and testing prior to their student’s return to school.

Our school remains open and attendance at school has clear benefits for learning and wellbeing. The benefits outweigh the risks, and the risk mitigations in place at school (for example, masks, vaccination, ventilation requirements) make school a safer place than many other environments.

In order to minimise the number of close contacts should we have more positive cases we are asking students to:

  • Follow good handwashing and hygiene practices
  • Wash often with soap for 20 seconds and dry your hands completely
  • Wash your hands if you have been in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
  • Avoid touching your face if your hands are not clean
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or cover your mouth with tissues
  • Wear masks indoors
  • Stay at home if they are unwell
