Alert Level Update Monday 30 August 2021

Monday 30 August 2021

Kia ora parents and caregivers

As you are now aware the country is moving into Lockdown Alert Level 3 from Tuesday 31 August at 11.59pm.

The very clear message from the Prime Minister is work and learn from home if you can.  Most staff at SHC will be continuing to work from home and provide online learning for their students.

For Senior Students: Years 11-13
This will not mean any change in the way that they are currently learning - they will continue learning online.

For Junior Students:  Years 9 and 10
We anticipate all will stay at home and continue with online learning if possible.

If, however, this is not possible, and an alternative arrangement cannot be made for their supervision, then we will be open for Year 9 and 10 students with parents who are essential workers only from Wednesday 1 September from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

Any Year 9 or 10 student attending site will be supervised by a member of the senior leadership team in the library and will continue with their online learning.

We will be implementing correct bubble sizes, social distancing, good hygiene etc for all those that attend.

Students will need to bring their own water, food, and device to use.

If your student will be attending school from Wednesday 1 September, then you must inform the Principal by return email by midday 12.00pm Tuesday 31 August [email protected]

Please indicate if they will be catching a school bus to school.

Access to school
If your student needs to get access the school to obtain resources that are vital for their learning, they can on Wednesday 1 September as per the times below:

Please do not come on to site if this is unnecessary.

We continue to be very impressed by our students who are working really well under different and challenging circumstances.  Remember to be kind to yourself throughout this and set realistic expectations. Don’t panic about assessments or events that are being rescheduled, we are working through our calendar and will keep you updated.

Please remind your student to follow their timetable, especially in terms of zoom meetings, so that we avoid clashes. Tomorrow we will be following a Tuesday timetable.

We are planning an assembly for later in the week – so watch this space.

Remember to look at the website for updates and to keep in contact with teachers via zoom, email, Teams etc.

Take care, be safe and be very kind.
