DOE Award Information
Not all learning happens in the classroom. Young people need experiences outside the classroom to become committed, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world.
The Award is open to all 14-24 year olds regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests and is the world's leading youth achievement award. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award is embedded into the culture of Sacred Heart College. It was introduced to the school in 1975 by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Mission and even our Principal Maria Potter completed her Bronze, Silver and Gold Award when she was a student at Sacred Heart College.
We encourage your daughter to take advantage of this opportunity to complete the Award while at Sacred Heart College. Through the Duke of Edinburgh programme she will gain resilience, dedication, leadership skills, life skills, respect for the land, environment, herself and others.
