Our composting programme has been up and running since Term 2 2019, in an attempt to divert food waste from landfill and lessen the negative impact we have on the planet.
Mana Whenua is a core value at Sacred Heart College, so promoting awareness and protection of our environment is very important to us. We have grown since the initiative started, and now have composting bins in almost every room in school as well as branching out into collecting plastics which can be recycled in the Hutt Valley.
Our student volunteers collect the compost every Friday. We now have enough to use on our school vegetable patch.
